Common Inquiries

Driveways questions answered

The questions we are asked most often about our driveways work, from preparation through to finish.

Still have questions?

Our expert team is ready to help guide your project.

Which driveway surfaces do you install?
Block paving, resin bound, tarmac, gravel and permeable paving, along with matching paths, edgings and steps.
How is the driveway built up underneath?
We excavate to the required depth, install a geotextile membrane where needed, then lay and compact a Type 1 sub-base before the surface course.
Do I need planning permission or drainage?
Permeable surfaces or a drainage solution such as a channel drain or soakaway are normally required so surface water does not run to the highway. We advise on this at quotation.
Can you widen an existing driveway or drop a kerb?
Yes. We widen and reconfigure driveways and can arrange dropped kerb works through the local authority where required.
How long does a driveway take to install?
A typical domestic driveway takes three to seven days depending on size, surface type and drainage requirements.
When can I park on it?
Block paving and tarmac are usable within 24-48 hours. Resin bound is normally ready the following day once fully cured.
